Discovering Entrepreneurship - Class Four
February 8, 2008 | Leave a Comment
The theme for today’s class was different ways a person can engage in entrepreneurship. We had three guest speakers, all of them students, who talked about health, energy, and tech startups. The discussion wasn’t too much about tips and tricks to being an entrepreneur but rather an analysis of the industry and some insight provided by students engaged within that field. Before we did that though, we performed quick, 1 minute pitches of startups we researched as homework.

What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20…
February 7, 2008 | 1 Comment
As I was perusing the EdCorner one evening, I stumbled across a podcast of Tina Seelig, one of the professors here at Stanford, talking about ten lessons she wishes she knew when she was 20. To many students I’ve met here at Stanford, Professor Seelig is a hero and I’m actually supposed to have the great privilege of meeting her both in Discovering Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship ASB. I’m extremely excited about this opportunity, and without further ado, I’ll give a recap of the ten lessons.

ETL - Christine Benninger

ETL today was very different from the ones I have had in the past. Social Entrepreneurship ASB - Class Five
February 5, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Our most recent class wasn’t extremely insightful, but we covered a lot and explored a couple things in greater detail. The first half of the class was spent discussing for profit versus nonprofit and the second half involved a quick presentation by me of triple bottom line (TBL) economics and discussion of some of the trip logistics. Because the class didn’t discuss too much that can be reinterpreted into a post, I’ll spend most of my time reiterating my talk into this post.

Discovering Entrepreneurship - Class Three

Today we had Professor Tina Seelig come to our class and talk about brainstorming, as well as a guest from Europe talking about human nature. Most of the class was taken up by an activity by Professor Seelig, with some random bits of discussion thrown in to the mix. Overall, the class was very fun, and although there were some take-away lessons, I didn’t particularly enlightened. Instead, I was fired up and ready to start the business we came up with during our activity with Professor Seelig.
